As every year since 2003, the Movember Foundation promotes the challenge of growing a mustache as a show of support for suicide prevention, and awareness for prostate & testicular cancer, a condition that unfortunately causes the death of thousands of men, with a rate of around 85 thousand deaths annually only in America.

This organization, born in the city of Melbourne, Australia, has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects across 23 countries – these activities include everything from conferences, research studies, sports programs, influencer collaborations, and global social media campaigns, among others.

Since the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in 2019 – 2020, the Movember movement started to focus not only on prostate and testicular cancer awareness but on men’s overall health, focusing on mental disorders like depression and anxiety. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 800 thousand people kill themselves annually, which is why this subject – which was already alarming – became even more relevant in these times where confinement and uncertainty can increase the risk factors for suicide.
